Mobile Star Awards
The annual Mobile Star Awards (www.mobilevillage.com/awards.htm), organized by market development company MobileVillage, aim to honor and promote the best companies, products, implementations, and leaders in mobile and wireless technology.
The Spring 2003 Awards the second held by MobileVillage featured nearly 100 entrants competing in over 40 categories. Award winners were chosen by readers of MobileVillages Go Mobile newsletter, a free twice-monthly online publication whose readers include leaders from the biggest mobile companies, Fortune 500 enterprises, and mobile/wireless media.
With over 5000 mobile technology companies doing business and more started every day, IT buyers and consumers need the resources to help them recognize the very best companies, products, and implementations, says Jon Covington, chairman and founder of MobileVillage / PDA Inc. Because Mobile Star Award winners are chosen by mobile-savvy people, they really do represent the best in mobile.
The awards are just one of the ways that we're trying to bring these leaders together, says Covington. The awards are a springboard for our live events, where company presidents and IT project managers can meet face-to-face and learn from each other.
MobileVillage is planning to spotlight this years award winners this December at a Best of Mobile conference that would mark the company's 20th event. The company past events include MobileEXPO, The Mobile & PDA Expo, The Utility Industry Mobile Computing Forum, The Forum for Handheld Computing in Healthcare, and the PDA Forum. The latter event the PDA Forum was held from 1994 to 1996 as one of the first events that promoted the benefits of mobile computing to enterprises.
